Question 6- What have you learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing this product?
camera and uploaded them on to the photo shop software and
manipulate them into the outline of the polaroid pictures this proved quite
difficult until we got the hang of photo shop and got the job done, this
technology allowed us to create detail to our production as this being a small
prop made the film effective and improved the quality. This also got good
feedback from the audience as with the pictures they had better understanding
of the suggested plot. The cameras were really easy and simple to use so this
didn’t affect the pace of our production at all. YouTube was a key element when
making our production as we used it for research and to upload any drafts we
created, we got great feedback!
I really didn’t realise how much work went into making a
production. Even small things such as changing the lengths of shots by a second
can make such a difference. However as we noticed how much work there was we
picked out important things to focus on for example editing to ensure it had
the right finish then focused on little things that add to the production as a
whole such as adding production companies on to our footage.
My favourite shot of our production is an over the shoulder
shot/POV shot of the antagonist analysing the polaroid pictures. It makes the
audience feel like they are in the room like a fly on the wall watching his
obsessive nature. In this shot it also jumps to a closer shot of the polaroid
causing and eerie effect.
These shots were used due to our research into different
horror openings our main inspiration was se7en which has these similar tight,
jumpy close up shots which were really effective in creating a spooky
atmosphere. I also really love the final shot in our production.
My favourite shot is when showing the antonognist face hidden strangely looking
down at the only source of light in the room. This created questions in the
audience mind…what‘s going to happen next?
I am really happy
with the work and effort that has gone into the making of our film and the
final project looks great! However there are a few things I would of done
different if I could do it again. One being the variations of shots and
locations as we was quite limited to the tight space of a cupboard and it was a
little difficult to keep the shots different therefore using our editing skills
we did our best to change lengths and cut shots to make them unique to one
another. Also with the locations I think at least a second location would make
it more effective and slightly more interesting to watch as an audience member.
I would say the only limitations that occurred was the correct equipment for a
360 degree shot we wished to create the reason being we thought of this idea to
late into the production schedule to research into how to creating this shot
even without the equipment.
Overall throughout the production I have gained many new
technological skills that helped massively to create a fantastic final product!
I intend to use these skills further when making more productions.
